Sand fields could serve a dual purpose - to provide buckets of sand for making glass and for the following crops.
Asparagus = Vegetable
Cucumber = vegetable
Zucchini = vegetable
Collard Greens = vegetable
Oregano = spice/herb
Catmint = herb
Daylilies = flowers
Rose of Sharon = flowers
Red Chokeberry = inkberries
Eucalyptus = tree
All or any of these could be plantable in a sand field.
